3M National Student Fellowship Likely January 2018 The 3M National Student Fellowship honours up to ten full-time university students at Canadian institutions who have demonstrated outstanding leadership in their lives and at their college or university. These students embrace a vision of quality education that enhances their academic experience and beyond. ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award Draft nomination statement: Friday, 06 October 2017 Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) established the Doctoral Dissertation Award program to recognize and encourage superior research and writing by doctoral candidates in computer science and engineering. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and is accompanied by a prize of $20,000 plus travel expenses to the banquet. All winning dissertations are published exclusively in print and electronic formats as part of the ACM Books Series, which includes distribution through the ACM Digital Library. Honorable Mention(s) may also be awarded, with a prize of $10,000 shared among recipients. Financial sponsorship of the award is provided by Google.

Anne Vallee Ecological Fund Likely March 2018 The Anne Vallée Ecological Fund (AVEF) offers two $1,500 scholarship to support students registered in animal research at the master or doctoral level in a Québec or British Columbia University. The AVEF is focussed on supporting field research in animal ecology, in relation with the impact of human activities such as forestry, industry, agriculture, and fishing.

Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society has established an award program for Aboriginal students pursuing studies at the Master’s and Doctoral levels in British Columbia. Renewable awards of $5,000 per year are available. Selection is based on a variety of factors, including financial need, family and community responsibilities, and career and life goals.
Bullitt Environmental Fellowship Sunday, 01 April 2018 Bullitt Environmental Fellowship is awarded each year to an outstanding graduate student at a university in the Pacific Northwest who has a strong academic record, a demonstrated capacity for leadership, the promise of emerging as an environmental leader, and a faculty nomination. Students of color, those who come from a disadvantaged background, or who have overcome significant hardship are highly encouraged to apply for this award.

CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award Likely June 2018 These awards are made to individuals who have completed PhD dissertations representing original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline. Graduate programs may submit up to two nominations: one in Biological Sciences and one in Humanities and Fine Arts. To be eligible, the nominee must have completed her or his doctoral degree requirements in the period of July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2017, inclusive. (Note: The CGS/ProQuest Award operates on a two-year cycle with regard to fields of competition. The fields of competition for 2018 will be Mathematics, Physical Sciences & Engineering and Social Sciences.)
