The Canadian Dam Association (CDA – www.cda.ca) offers annually two scholarships to full-time postgraduate students attending a Canadian university or college whose program of study focuses on dam safety and/or the management of dams. Topics of project studies and/or research are encouraged from all industries where dam safety and the management of dams are a critical infrastructure for the respective industry and the society in general. Relevant industries include, but are not limited to: water resources, hydropower and thermal power generation, flood protection and control, mining (including tailings storage facilities and mining dams in general), agriculture, tourism and recreation, navigation, water supply and irrigation, to name a few. The two CDA Scholarships are the following:
- The CDA Gary Salmon Memorial Scholarship, valued at $5,000, is awarded to the selected applicant registered as a full-time student in a Ph.D program at a Canadian university, and
- The CDA Student Award of Merit Scholarship, valued at $2,500, is awarded to the selected applicant registered as a full-time student in a Master degree (M.Eng, M.Sc, M.A.Sc) at a Canadian university, in either project or thesis option.
