IMPORTANT: These deadlines are specific to graduate students. There are additional deadlines in the UBC Academic Calendar that apply to all students. Application deadlines can be found in the prospective student section as well as in each degree program profile.

MCC Canadian Japanese-Mennonite Scholarship Likely in April 2025 The Canadian Japanese-Mennonite Scholarship is intended to assist the protection of minority and human rights in Canada, and reduce the potential for abuse of cultural minorities such as that suffered by Japanese Canadians during World War II.
Gustave O. Arlt Award in the Humanities Likely in April 2025 Named in honor of the first president of the Council of Graduate Schools and first presented in 1972, this award is made annually to a scholar-teacher in the humanities. The recipient must be teaching in a North American university, have earned a doctorate within 7 years of the award date, and have written a book of scholarly importance. Subjects fields are selected annually.
Pursuit Award Likely in April 2025 The Pursuit Awards recognize PhD students from across the globe for their outstanding contributions to and achievements in childhood disability research. The focus of the student/graduate's research must be in the area of pediatric disability.

Last day for final master's theses and doctoral dissertations to be approved by the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies for May 2025 graduation. Must be approved and accepted (not just submitted) by 4:00 pm. Students are expected to submit 3-5 days before this approval deadline in order to have time for corrections.

Arthritis Society Graduate PhD Salary Award Likely in April 2025 Salary awards are offered to graduate students who are undertaking full-time research training in an area of clear relevance to arthritis and The Arthritis Society's 5-year research strategic plan.
Schmidt Science Fellowships Likely in April 2025 The Schmidt Science Fellows program aims to provide the next generation of scientific leaders and innovators with an exceptional opportunity. Fellows receive a stipend of $100,000 per year and are supported to pursue a one to two year postdoctoral placement at a world-leading laboratory anywhere in the world in a disciplinary pivot from their PhD.
Karl C. Ivarson Scholarship for Students in Soil Science and Related Studies Likely in April 2025 Dr. Karl C. Ivarson Scholarship provides financial support to students entering second or subsequent year of graduate studies in soil science (agriculture, agro-ecology, resource management, environment, geology or other related disciplines). Candidates must hold Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residence status in Canada and be enrolled in their graduate program for at least one semester beyond the application deadline.
BC Indigenous Student Award Likely in April 2025 The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society has established an award program for Indigenous students pursuing studies at the Master’s and Doctoral levels in British Columbia. Renewable awards of $5,000 per year are available.
Wall Awards Likely in April 2025 Graduate awards have been made available through the Peter Wall Legacy Fund, an endowment established by Peter Wall, for for 2nd and 3rd year Master's students and 5th and 6th year PhD candidates studying sustainable development and environmental protection of British Columbia.

Graduate Covid Program Delay Tuition Award Ongoing Graduate Covid Program Delay Tuition Awards are provided to support graduate students whose academic and/or research progress was delayed by disruptions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Graduate Research Stipend Submissions accepted throughout the year To support the research undertaken by students who have been unable to travel to Canada due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Graduate Research Stipend (GRS) distribution process is being made available to allow supervisors to provide funding to these graduate students.
Queen Elizabeth Scholars Likely in May 2025
DEGIRS Bursary Likely in May 2025 The Division of Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector (DEGIRS) offers a $2,000 bursary aimed at advancing engineering and geosciences education and practices in BC. Studies should relate directly to professional engineering and/or professional geoscience in the resource sector.
Elizabeth Henry Scholarship for Communities and Environmental Health Likely in May 2025 The Elizabeth Henry Scholarship for Communities and Environmental Health supports graduate students working on research projects in partnership with BC communities that are addressing environmental health issues and promoting environmental sustainability through cooperative community initiatives.
UBC Public Scholars Award Likely in March 2025 This award is intended to build connections, community, and capacity for doctoral students who are interested in explicitly linking their doctoral work to an arena of public benefit and integrating broader and more career-relevant forms of scholarship into their doctoral education process.
Organization of American States (OAS) Fellowships Programs Likely in May 2025 Academic scholarships are awarded to undertake graduate studies that lead to a degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) and/or graduate research at a university or higher learning institution in an OAS Member State. The competition is open to students in all disciplines (natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences and arts). Scholarships are not offered for studies in the medical sciences and the learning of new languages.
Canada Graduate Scholarship Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement Likely in May 2025 The Canada Graduate Scholarship Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements (CGS-MSFSS) Program supports Canadian graduate students pursuing research experiences at institutions outside of Canada.
International Policy Ideas Challenge Likely in May 2025

NSERC CREATE Ongoing A number of active NSERC Collaborative Research and Training Experience Programs are available at UBC. Funding is available to support the training of teams of highly qualified students and postdoctoral fellows from Canada and abroad.
British Columbia Graduate Scholarship Ongoing The province of British Columbia has funded graduate scholarships to emphasize research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, and support for Indigenous students.
International Doctoral Fellowship Discontinued Provides five years of funding for top incoming international doctoral students.
