CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19): please review UBC’s general information and FAQs and G+PS's graduate student-specific information.
Awards totalling $2.8 million for the 2020-2021 fiscal year will be provided beginning in May 2020 to recognize the significant contributions of PhD students to the research activities of the university. The awards are available to all new and continuing PhD students, except those who have their tuition paid by an external sponsor*.
Award values per student will be approximately:
Note that as with most graduate award funding at UBC, students are assigned this funding as a 1/3 portion of the yearly amount at the beginning of each of the 3 terms of the academic year.
*External sponsor: An external sponsor would be an Aboriginal community, employer, or government agency such as a student's home government. A Tri-Agency award such as a CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC is not an "external sponsor". See sponsorship billing for details.
