Leong CSC UBC PhD Scholarship Monday, 17 August 2020 Renewable doctoral scholarships of $35,000 per year for up to four years are offered annually by the Tai Hung Fai Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC). To be considered, candidates must be citizens of the mainland of the People's Republic of China who demonstrate academic excellence and who are undertaking PhD research at the UBC Vancouver campus, in one of the following areas: health, natural sciences, natural resources, economics or business.

International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Research Awards 4:00 pm (EDT) on 16 September 2020 The IDRC Research Awards are offered to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries enrolled in a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university OR who have completed a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university. Research award recipients will undertake a one-year paid program of research focused on at least one developing country.

IODE War Memorial Scholarship Letter of intent: October 1, 2020; Full Application: November 1, 2020 The National Chapter of Canada IODE initiated War Memorial Doctoral Scholarships in 1918 to commemorate Canadians who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom. Initially, bursaries were granted to children of men and women who lost their lives or who were permanently disabled while fighting for Canada. Today, applicants are judged on academic excellence and potential. Applicants must be Canadian citizens and in at least their second year of doctoral program at a Canadian or Commonwealth university.

ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award Graduate program nomination deadline: 4:00 pm PDT on 16 October 2020 Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) established the Doctoral Dissertation Award program to recognize and encourage superior research and writing by doctoral candidates in computer science and engineering. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and is accompanied by a prize of $20,000 plus travel expenses to the banquet. All winning dissertations are published exclusively in print and electronic formats as part of the ACM Books Series, which includes distribution through the ACM Digital Library. Honorable Mention(s) may also be awarded, with a prize of $10,000 shared among recipients.
John W. Davies Memorial Award Friday, 20 November 2020 One award of $3,000 is offered by the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Arctic Section in memory of John W. Davies, a former Chairman of the Arctic Section. The competition is open to any full time graduate student whose research will assist in providing solutions to problems encountered in the Arctic or in cold ocean environments.
