International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Research Awards 4:00pm (EDT) on Wednesday, 18 September 2019 The IDRC Research Awards are offered to Canadians, permanent residents of Canada, and citizens of developing countries enrolled in a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university OR who have completed a master’s or a doctoral degree at a recognized university. Research award recipients will undertake a one-year paid program of research focused on at least one developing country.
Killam Awards for Excellence in Mentoring Friday, 20 September 2019 The Killam Awards for Excellence in Mentoring recognize outstanding mentorship of numerous graduate students over many years.
ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award Monday, 7 October 2019, for graduate programs to submit draft nomination statement Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) established the Doctoral Dissertation Award program to recognize and encourage superior research and writing by doctoral candidates in computer science and engineering. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and is accompanied by a prize of $20,000 plus travel expenses to the banquet. All winning dissertations are published exclusively in print and electronic formats as part of the ACM Books Series, which includes distribution through the ACM Digital Library. Honorable Mention(s) may also be awarded, with a prize of $10,000 shared among recipients.

Future Forests Fellowship Not accepting applications at this time An annual $70,000 fellowship has been established by the Moss Rock Park Foundation. This prestigious fellowship will be awarded to an incoming PhD student in the Faculty of Forestry whose intended studies fit within one of the following areas of excellence within the Faculty: Forest Products Biotechnology; Bioenergy; Forest Genomics; Climate Change; Urban Forestry; Forest Management; Conservation; Forested Landscapes; Salmon Ecology; Forest Health; Forests and Indigenous Peoples; Forests and Human Health. The fellowship holder will receive this funding for up to four years and only one student may be in receipt of the fellowship at a time. The fellowship will be awarded on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.

Senior Women Academic Administrators of Canada (SWAAC) Graduate Student Award of Merit Friday, 01 November 2019 at 4:00 pm PST Awards of $3,500 each will be awarded women graduate students who have demonstrated leadership while maintaining exemplary academic records. UBC may nominate one student to the 2020 Western Provinces competition.

Leong CSC UBC Postdoctoral Fellowship Likely November 2019 Renewable postdoctoral fellowships of $50,000 per year for up to three years are offered annually by the Tai Hung Fai Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC). To be considered, candidates must be citizens of the mainland of the People's Republic of China who demonstrate academic excellence and who are undertaking postdoctoral research at the UBC Vancouver campus in one of the following areas: health, natural sciences, natural resources, economics or business.

Transdisciplinary Understanding and Training on Research - Primary Health Care (TUTOR-PHC) Likely December 2019 Transdisciplinary Understanding and Training on Research - Primary Health Care (TUTOR-PHC) is a one-year national interdisciplinary training program funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation (CHSRF) with representation from the disciplines of Family Medicine, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology and Education. This training program is aimed at students and their supervisors from Canadian universities who are interested in interdisciplinary primary health care research.
