The symposium for Re-imagining the PhD, held at the Liu Institute for Global Issues on June 6th, 2014, was conceived as an "experiment in community dialogue," an attempt to begin a critical conversation around the parameters, content, and purposes of doctoral education.

Dr. Matthias Görges is the recipient of a 2014 UBC Killam Postdoctoral Research prize. Awarded annually, the prestigious $5,000 prize is given in recognition of the distinguished research achievements of a UBC postdoctoral fellow during their time at UBC.

Two UBC PhD Students Receive Inaugural Prostate Cancer Canada Awards

Two University of British Columbia PhD students have been selected to be among the first-ever recipients of the prestigious Prostate Cancer Canada Graduate Studentship awards. Natives of British Columbia Peter Axerio-Cilies and Philip Edgcumbe will split a total of $80,000 for two research projects with the potential to transform treatment and recovery for prostate cancer survivors.
