This session will provide a detailed overview of the Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS) and Affiliated Fellowship award competition for Master’s-level funding, including advice on writing a successful application. Eligibility criteria for major funding agencies will be reviewed, as well as application procedures and tips for putting together a strong application.

Many graduate students feel unsure how to describe their skills and competencies to non-academic employers. This workshop will address questions about: 

  • Highlighting accomplishments, transferable skills, and appeal to non-academic employers
  • Strategies for looking for work and approaches to access the hidden job market.
  • Informational interviews, and how they can help with the job search
  • Finding and understanding job postings

There will be opportunities for Q & A.

The Doctoral Defence information session walks students through the doctoral examination process and explains the different defence modes - in-person, virtual, and hybrid.

Wednesday, 13 November 2024 - 10:00am to 3:00pm

The Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication (CWSC) and Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (G+PS) invite masters students to an on-campus writing retreat at Thea’s Lounge (space courtesy GSS) on Wednesday November 13. The in-person event provides dedicated time to join peers and write together using the Pomodoro method.

  • How to use LinkedIn to develop new, engaging connections
