Schmidt Science Fellowships Likely July 2020 The Schmidt Science Fellows program aims to provide the next generation of scientific leaders and innovators with an exceptional opportunity. Fellows receive a stipend of $100,000 and are supported by the program to undertake a full-time, postdoctoral study for at least one year in a world-leading laboratory in a field different from their existing area of expertise. Fellows also spend five weeks during their Fellowship year at four residential meetings around the globe where they receive bespoke training to help them become the next generation of science leaders.

Organization of American States (OAS) Fellowships Programs Likely May 2020 Academic scholarships are awarded to undertake graduate studies that lead to a degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) and/or graduate research at a university or higher learning institution in an OAS Member State. The competition is open to students in all disciplines (natural sciences, engineering, humanities, social sciences and arts). NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships Tuesday, 17 September 2019 at 12 PM (noon) PDT The NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships – Doctoral (PGS D) program provides financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in an eligible doctoral program in the natural sciences or engineering. Students registered in a UBC degree program (or on an approved leave of absence from UBC) in the 2019 calendar year must complete the NSERC online application by UBC's deadline. Applicants complete and submit one application to be considered for both the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Doctoral (CGS-D) and PGS-D.
NSERC Foreign Study Supplements in Taiwan Likely February 2020 Foreign Study Supplements in Taiwan provide graduate students in the natural sciences and engineering with first-hand research experience in an international setting. Award supports travel to Taiwan for eight weeks this summer and work with researchers on projects related to their research studies in Canada while receiving Mandarin training at National Tsing Hua University.

NPRB Graduate Student Research Awards Likely February 2020 North Pacific Research Board will award up to six Graduate Student Research Awards (GSRAs) of $25,000 each for the opportunity to address scientific, technological, and socio-economic issues relating to the research themes identified in the 2018 NPRB Science Plan.

Mitacs Globalink Research Award Not accepting applications at this time The Mitacs Globalink Research Award supports research collaborations between Canada and select partner countries. The award is open to undergraduate and graduate students in all discipines. Funding varies by destination.

MCC Canadian Japanese-Mennonite Scholarship Likely April 2020 The Canadian Japanese-Mennonite Scholarship is intended to assist the protection of minority and human rights in Canada, and reduce the potential for abuse of cultural minorities such as that suffered by Japanese Canadians during World War II.
MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program Likely mid-November The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program is a global initiative to educate and develop next-generation leaders from Africa who will contribute to social and economic progress. Over a ten-year period the initiative will fund 35 master's students in selected graduate degree programs.
