Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?
Having gained experience as ecologist researcher, a Ph.D. seemed like the next logical step I needed to take to establish myself as a microbiologist in the academic community.
Why did you decide to study at UBC?
The UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems (LFS) is a world leader in integrated research and education: researchers address global issues surrounding sustainable land and food systems. UBC is also a place where you can develop your talent and follow your passions.
What was the best surprise about UBC or life in Vancouver?
My major surprise was the weather. I had heard that this is an area where it rains a lot, but I never realised it would rain so much. The good thing is that people are used to the rain and it's not a big problem for them.
