Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

It's more like seeking self-improvement and self-accomplishment: overcome every challenge we have and will have met.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

UBC Math department is in the top list all across the globe with so many brilliant researchers and professors, while graduate and post-graduate fellows are professional and interactive. Moreover most people at UBC are so kind, friendly and approachable, which contributes to a warm and efficient campus.

What was the best surprise about UBC or life in Vancouver?

Vancouver is literally "rain-couver".

What do you like to do for fun or relaxation?

Sports including swimming and jogging would be helpful to pressure relief; reading novels and watching movies or animation are other options for me.

What advice do you have for new graduate students?

Feel free to talk to fellow graduate students and senior students, get to know the staff, they're all nice people to talk to.

 
 

Learn more about Xinyu's research

We studied asymptotic behaviors of Allen-Cahn (Cahn-Hilliard type) equations, developed some numerical schemes and proved the stability and convergence.
