Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

In my undergraduate degree, I developed an interest in sport psychology and decided that I wanted to further pursue this interest in graduate school. I wanted to continue to learn and explore the field.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

I have been at UBC since my undergraduate degree. Initially, I decided to study at UBC because I was recruited to play on the varsity women's ice hockey team. Now, it is the opportunity to study at a leading research university with world class scholars. I have enjoyed UBC so much that I just haven't left!

What is it specifically, that your program offers, that attracted you?

UBC kinesiology is a close knit multidisciplinary program. I really value the supportive environment and the chance to be surrounded by like minded graduate students and leading researchers.

What was the best surprise about UBC or life in Vancouver?

I just love being surrounded by people who aspire to continue to push the research limits. I love the collaboration with others. I love the community.

What aspect of your graduate program do you enjoy the most or are looking forward to with the greatest curiosity?

There are so many enjoyable moments throughout graduate school. I really enjoy the research process, designing, implementing and carrying out research. I also enjoy being around and learning from other graduate students with similar interests.

What aspects of your life or career before now have best prepared you for your UBC graduate program?

It's important to be open to new opportunities. Getting involved in different research projects, taking a variety of courses, making connections with established people with similar research interests, and following my passion.

What do you like to do for fun or relaxation?

I love cooking and being creative in the kitchen, exercising, playing sport, and enjoying the outdoors.

What advice do you have for new graduate students?

Relax, take a breath, and enjoy the journey. It's all about the experience.
