Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?
I was always interested in research and curious about how things work. As I grew up I became more inclined towards diseases and how medicines work.
Why did you decide to study at UBC?
UBC is one of the leading universities in the world in terms of education and research. And, frankly speaking, Vancouver is one of the best cities in world to live in.
What do you hope to accomplish with your research?
I hope one day my research on somatostatin receptors can lead to a cure for Huntington's disease.
What are your future career goals?
I would like to join the pharmaceutical industry and work at developing new drugs for diseases that are widespread in third world countries.
What has been your most memorable Vancouver experience so far?
I have had lots of memorable experiences in Vancouver. Like the first time I tried snowboarding; after the first time trying it I decided I was not doing it ever again. But my friends convinced me and now I enjoy it. The best thing I love about Vancouver is you can do snowboarding, play golf, and have drinks at English Bay enjoying the view on the same day.
What advice do you have for new graduate students?
UBC is one of the best places to study. We have lots of international students from all over the world; there's no discrimination and everyone is really helpful. I would always encourage students from my home country to come and join UBC
