The Statistical Opportunity for Students (SOS) and SOS Extension programs help graduate students formulate and understand the statistical issues involved in their research projects and is open year-round. About the group

Are you a graduate student? Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or challenged in balancing work and life? This in-person support group is for graduate students to connect with each other in a non-judgmental and welcoming space to help navigate the unique challenges of grad school.

Topics are generated by participants so that relevant themes may be addressed. Past discussions have focused on topics such as: motivation, procrastination, perfectionism, feelings of being an imposter, isolation and making connections, work/life balance and setting boundaries…

Current UBC graduate students and recent alumni (within 1 year of graduation) can access individual advising appointments in person or as virtual appointments. Topics for these conversations include: career options/exploration, job search, networking, interviews, resume, academic CVs, etc. To book an appointment, please log in to Careers Online .
