Immigrant Parents and Students' Experiences with Psychological Service Delivery in BC

Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

I decided to pursue a graduate degree because I wanted to learn more about my profession and I wanted to be able to be more involved in the community.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

I also completed my BA in Psychology at UBC, therefore I had established valuable connections with the students and the faculty. UBC was also the only university offering a degree in school psychology in BC. Therefore, it was an easy decision.

What is it specifically, that your program offers, that attracted you?

The school psychology program at UBC is very community based and practical. I thoroughly enjoyed how we were involved in practicum from the first term. I also really enjoyed learning from a community-based perspective.

What was the best surprise about UBC or life in Vancouver?

After spending more than 10 years on campus, I still don't get tired of this place's natural beauty. Every season on campus is beautiful!

I decided to pursue a graduate degree with UBC because I wanted to learn more about my profession and also be more involved in the community.

What aspects of your life or career before now have best prepared you for your UBC graduate program?

I like to do photography, swimming, and spend quality time with my family.

Take this time to challenge your thinking, learn about different perspectives, and always be in touch with the community outside of academia!
