What are your main responsibilities or activities in your current position?
All the activities of running an independent company (planning, organizing, managing), plus the actual services provided (writing, editing, translating, teaching, researching, etc.)
How does your current work relate to your graduate degree?
It's in the areas of language and communication, publishing and editing, and it has an international focus. The graduate school experience helped me provide better services to my clients in the academic sector, be it students or professors.
What do you like and what do you find challenging about your current position?
The constant variety in activities and topics, and the wide range of people I meet.
What motivated you to pursue graduate work at UBC?
The possibility of having an international focus for my dissertation. The location doesn't hurt either.
What key things did you do, or what attitudes or approaches did you have, that contributed to your success?
I think good organization is key to manage all the requirements and avoid delays.
What is your best piece of advice for current graduate students preparing for their future careers?
Take the time to make the most of your time as graduate student: enjoy!
How did you find out about/obtain your current position?
I created it.
