G+PS staff member receives 2019 President’s Staff Award

Our warm congratulations to G+PS staff member Kelli Kadokawa on receiving the 2019 President’s Staff Award under the Community Engagement category.

The President’s Staff Awards recognize contributions in advancing diversity and inclusion, community engagement, creativity and innovation, emerging leadership, enhancing the UBC experience, leadership and wellbeing.

Kelli has been with UBC for 8 years and is currently the Communications and Business Initiatives Coordinator at G+PS. In this role, Kelli is responsible for providing communications and recruitment support as well as planning and organizing events, including the new graduate student orientations in September and January.

An eternal optimist, with warm personality and supportive nature, Kelli has spearheaded a number of initiatives that enhance the graduate student experience: her webinar series for prospective and newly admitted students, which she offers at all times of the day to allow students in various time zones to participate; her work with newly admitted student onboarding, which provides critical information clarifying a variety of topics from immigration to housing, to making friends in a new city; and her instrumental role in launching a UBC-wide graduate student ambassador program.
