Congratulations to the UBC finalists in the International Policy Ideas Challenge

Two UBC teams are among the top finalists in Global Affairs Canada’s inaugural International Policy Ideas Challenge. This challenge invited graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to submit proposals covering a wide range of internationally relevant topics, such as climate change, development, technology-related ideas, and corporate social responsibility.

Among the top five finalists is a proposal by George Benson, Aliya Dossa and Chiyi Tam on Climate Finance: Mobilizing Institutional Investors. George Benson is a student in the masters program at the UBC School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP), Aliya Dossa recently received an undergraduate degree from the Vancouver School of Economics and Chiyi Tam has an undergraduate degree in global resource systems from the Faculty of Land and Food Systems.

The top five proposals will each receive $3,000 to write a policy brief on their proposal.

Kiran Alwani and Corrin Bulmer received an honorary mention for their proposal, Sustainable Solutions Studios (S3) Fostering Innovation Through Youth Engagement. Kirin Alwani and Corrin Bulmer are both studying for a master’s degree in public policy and global affairs at UBC.
