Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

Curiosity kills the cat, and makes other people pursue graduate degrees.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

Vancouver is a beautiful city.

What do you hope to accomplish with your research?

Research conducted in cold and ultracold molecules include: few-body and many-body of physics/chemistry; precision spectroscopy; probes of fundamental symmetries and constants etc. As techniques advance, a diverse selection of high density, ultracold, stable molecules will be more readily available. This will lead to more research possibilities and give further insights into topics such as: controlled molecular dynamics; high-resolution spectroscopy; quantum information technology.

What are your future career goals?

To understand the universe. After I solved the universe, then maybe I can look into politics.

What has been your most memorable Vancouver experience so far?

I had a 4-day-trip to the Rockies; it was absolutely amazing. The trip took us from sea level, all the way up to 2000m elevation. There were mountains, forests, lakes, glaciers, and a bus full of friendly people. There was also a town called "Hope" somewhere along the tour, i.e. a town of hopeful people.

What advice do you have for new graduate students?

Remember to study hard, and remember to have fun. And remember to carry an umbrella with you! UBC is a great university offering great opportunities. Vancouver is the most beautiful city I have visited. And Canadian people are nice and friendly. But it rains a lot.
