Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

I wanted to increase my knowledge of the common law system and learn more about the Canadian legal system. It is also a great opportunity to expand my knowledge and prepare for an advanced legal career.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

I decided to study at UBC because of its reputation and world rank, which I believe will contribute towards my future success. Besides that, UBC campus is so beautiful, and Vancouver is a wonderful place to live for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors!

What is it specifically, that your program offers, that attracted you?

The program is the first of its kind in Canada. It provides foundational training in Canadian common law for foreign trained or non-common law trained lawyers, offering students the opportunity to complete a master's degree in Law while also working towards the course-work requirements for practicing law in Canada.

What was the best surprise about UBC or life in Vancouver?

The diversity on campus and the amount of activities to be involved in outside of the academic setting.

What aspects of your life or career before now have best prepared you for your UBC graduate program?

The MA program at the University of York.

What advice do you have for new graduate students?

Work on developing new friendships among your colleagues, always ask for advice and remember that the answer is always no if you don't ask. Professors are always there for you, extracurricular activities are a great way to be involved and to meet new people with similar interests and lastly, plan ahead of your program because time will pass by very quickly.
