Dr. Leila Harris appointed as Strategic Advisor, Graduate and Postdoctoral Funding

UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Leila Harris as Strategic Advisor, Graduate and Postdoctoral Funding for a three-year term. 

Leila is a Professor in the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability and also in the Institute for Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia. Her work connects political ecology, nature-society studies, and issues of socio-cultural difference, inequality, and politics. She also serves as Co-Director for UBC’s Program on Water Governance, is a member of the EDGES research collaborative (Environment and Development: Gender, Equity, and Sustainability Perspectives), and is an Associate of the Department of Geography. 

Dr. Harris has taught at UBC for more than 15 years and brings a wealth of experience to her new role. She will be working to establish areas of focus under the broad portfolios of graduate student and postdoctoral funding at UBC, and completing an environmental scan of the funding landscape at UBC.

Dr. Harris begins her role on July 1.
