Dr. Alison Lister appointed as Associate Dean, Student and Supervisor Support

UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Alison Lister as the Associate Dean, Student and Supervisor Support for a three-year term.

Alison is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, where she “smashes stuff together” at high energy to study the fundamental building blocks of nature and their interactions. She was appointed as a Canada Research Chair in Particle Physics in 2013, working on one of the largest scientific collaborations on the planet—the ATLAS particle physics experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator. She was recently recognized with the prestigious Killam Research Prize in the sciences, recognizing her distinguished career in particle physics. She has also served as a grad chair.

She has worked in the Department of Physics and Astronomy for more than ten years and will be developing material and content to enhance the competency levels of students, postdocs, and supervisors necessary for effective academic relationships and student progression.

Dr. Lister begins her role on May 1.

Welcome, Alison!
