UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Adam Frank as the Associate Dean, Policy pro tem.
Adam is a Professor in the Department of English Language and Literatures and served as Director of that department's graduate program from 2019 to 2023. He is also affiliated with the Graduate Program in Science and Technology Studies where he served as Chair (and co-Chair) from 2014 to 2018.
As Director of the English graduate program Professor Frank led the development of a thoroughly revised and updated graduate curriculum. Before that, he improved support for graduate students through grant workshop and job placement initiatives. As Chair of the Graduate Program in Science and Technology Studies, he developed a specialization in the interdisciplinary methods of STS for PhD students in English, History, Philosophy, and Sociology. Professor Frank has twenty-five years of experience in graduate education at UBC and has served on many admissions, postdoctoral selection, and supervisory committees.
Dr, Frank began his new position on July 8.
