Understanding resistance in adult-adolescent interactions
 
Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?

I decided to pursue a graduate degree based on a combination of my previous professional and research experience in Social Work. My goal is to conduct Social Work research in the field of adolescence to better understand parent-adolescent relationships, specifically when it comes to adolescents resisting their parents.

Why did you decide to study at UBC?

UBC is a recognized global leader in Social Work research. As the oldest school in Western Canada, I wanted to pursue a graduate degree at a well-established institution.

What is it specifically, that your program offers, that attracted you?

The faculty in my program have extensive research experience and a wide range of Social Work expertise.

What was the best surprise about UBC or life in Vancouver?

I was surprised by how much UBC feels like a community.

What aspects of your life or career before now have best prepared you for your UBC graduate program?

My professional and volunteer experiences helped to shape my ideas and area of interest for pursuing a research career.

What advice do you have for new graduate students?
