Three UBC graduate students are finalists in national competition

Three UBC graduate students have been announced as 2024 Storyteller finalists.

SSHRC’s Storytellers Challenge asks postsecondary students to show Canadians, in up to three minutes or 300 words, how social sciences and humanities research is affecting our lives, our world and our future for the better.

Leah Alfred-Olmedo, Nancy Lin and Aleah Wong have been named finalists of the 2024 SSHRC Storytellers Challenge, out of 20 finalists from across Canada. Each student has received $3,000 and has the opportunity to present their submission live on May 6 as part of the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada conference.

On May 6 the finalists will be narrowed down to the Final Five, each of whom will receive an additional $1,000.

Congratulations to Leah, Nancy and Aleah!
