Graduate Certificate in Forest Management and Conservation (GCFMC)

Overview

Global learners, from all over the world, with a desire to advance their careers and to leverage new technology and use science-based practices, will learn the tools to sustainably manage forests in the rapidly changing social and political environment. The course is ideal for working professionals looking to advance their careers. 

If you are employed in, or interested in pursuing careers in, forestry-related, conservation, or natural resource management jobs in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, this certificate will put you on the right path.

Students will learn to:

  • Manage forest resources and develop adaptation strategies that integrate sustainable principles and technologies at local, regional and global levels
  • Understand the political, governance, legal, administrative and business contexts
  • Engage with communities and other partners in developing and implementing forest management practices.

What makes the program unique?

GCFMC students have the flexibility to create their own timeline to completion, within a maximum of two years (6 terms).

Program Structure

The GCFMC is a graduate level certificate that can be completed online in 2 years or less. Students must complete 15-credits (5 courses) in a maximum of two years: one required (core) course, which must be completed in the first term (FOPE 500), and four additional courses that suit their unique interests, within the elective pool.
