ACM Doctoral Dissertation Award Likely in October 2024 Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) established the Doctoral Dissertation Award program to recognize and encourage superior research and writing by doctoral candidates in computer science and engineering. The award is presented each June at the ACM Awards Banquet and is accompanied by a prize of $20,000 plus travel expenses to the banquet. All winning dissertations are published exclusively in print and electronic formats as part of the ACM Books Series, which includes distribution through the ACM Digital Library. Honorable Mention(s) may also be awarded, with a prize of $10,000 shared among recipients.
Affiliated Fellowships Doctoral Program Likely in September 2024 The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies offers Affiliated Fellowships each year to current and prospective full-time UBC graduate students regardless of citizenship or visa status.

Anne Vallee Ecological Fund Likely in March 2025 The Anne Vallée Ecological Fund (AVEF) offers two $1,500 scholarship to support students registered in animal research at the master or doctoral level in a Québec or British Columbia University. The AVEF is focussed on supporting field research in animal ecology, in relation with the impact of human activities such as forestry, industry, agriculture, and fishing.
Arthritis Society Graduate PhD Salary Award Likely in April 2024 Salary awards are offered to graduate students who are undertaking full-time research training in an area of clear relevance to arthritis and The Arthritis Society's 5-year research strategic plan.
BC Indigenous Student Award Likely in April 2024 The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society has established an award program for Indigenous students pursuing studies at the Master’s and Doctoral levels in British Columbia. Renewable awards of $5,000 per year are available.
BC NEIHR Indigenous Graduate and Postdoctoral Funding Likely in February 2025 The BC NEIHR supports Indigenous (First Nations, Métis and Inuit) graduate students and postdoctoral fellows by annual competitions for Master’s and Doctoral scholarships and biennial (every two years) for Post-Doctoral fellowships.
Black Business and Professional Association National Scholarship Likely in July 2024 The BBPA National Scholarship Program (NSP) is dedicated to supporting and promoting the achievement of academic excellence by Black Canadian youth through an annual scholarship program.
BPOC Graduate Excellence Award Likely in January 2025 Awards, valued at no less than $1,500 each, available for outstanding graduate students who identify as Black or as a Person of Colour, with preference for domestic students and for incoming research Master’s students.
British Columbia Graduate Scholarship Ongoing The province of British Columbia has funded graduate scholarships to emphasize research in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, and support for Indigenous students.
Bullitt Prize June 1, 2024 The Bullitt Prize is a program to identify and support environmentally focused leaders in the Pacific Northwest.  Applicants must be studying and demonstrate a commitment to subjects that are closely aligned with the Prize’s mission to safeguard the natural environment by promoting responsible human activities and sustainable communities in the Pacific Northwest.
CAGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards Likely in March 2025 The CAGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Awards recognize Canadian doctoral dissertations that make unusually significant and original contributions to their academic field.

Canada Graduate Scholarship Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement - 3rd Call Likely in January 2025 MSFSS offers a third intake each January, depending on funding availability. Eligible applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
Canada Graduate Scholarships Doctoral (CGS D) Program Likely in September 2024 The Canada Graduate Scholarships - Doctoral (CGS D) program is a federal program of scholarships awarded through national competitions by the granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).
Canada Graduate Scholarships Master’s (CGS M) Program Likely in December 2024 The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships-Master's (CGS M) Program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of high-calibre scholars who are engaged in eligible master's or, in some cases, doctoral programs in Canada.
Canada-US Fulbright Program Likely in November 2024 The Canada-US Fulbright Program is a bi-national program of educational exchange, with a mandate to enhance mutual understanding between the people of Canada and the people of the United States of America. Available to graduate students, faculty, professionals and independent researchers, successful applicants conduct research, lecture, or enroll in formal academic programs in the United States. Fulbright Canada offers various scholarship awards within this program, with further information on the various award opportunities made available through the Canada-US Fulbright Program website.
Canadian Dam Association Scholarships Likely in June 2024 The Canadian Dam Association offers annually two scholarships to full-time postgraduate students attending a Canadian university or college whose program of study focuses on dam safety and/or the management of dams.
Canadian Liver Foundation Graduate Studentships Likely in March 2025 The objective of the Canadian Liver Foundation (CLF) is to provide support for research and education into the causes, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of the liver. Graduate Studentships and Summer Studentships are intended for scientists-in-training who are working towards obtaining their Masters or Ph.D. and whose research projects are related to liver diseases.
Canadian Northern Studies Trust Awards Likely in January 2025 The Canadian Northern Studies Awards support students undertaking research that includes northern or circumpolar fieldwork.
Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) Travel Award Likely in March 2023 As of 2023, the Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) has been absorbed into the International Congress on Academic Medicine (ICAM).  The Canadian Student Health Research Forum (CSHRF) Travel Award is no longer offered.
Canadian Water Resources Association Scholarship Likely in February 2025 The Canadian Water Resources Association (CWRA) annually offers five scholarships to graduate students whose programs of study focus on applied, natural, or social science aspects of water resources.
Centre for Applied Ethics Graduate Fellowship Likely in March 2025 The fellowship will provide a one-time annual stipend of $20,000 plus a research-related allowance of $1,500. Relevant topics for this fellowship include but are not limited to: bioethics, business ethics, environmental ethics, public health ethics, and health inequities.
CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award Likely in June 2024 These awards are made to individuals who have completed PhD dissertations representing original work that makes an unusually significant contribution to the discipline.
Charles D. Gonthier Research Fellowship Likely in March 2025 The Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice provides funds for a $7500 Research Fellowship in order to support research related to the Institute's annual conference theme. The completed research is expected to be presented at the Institute’s annual conference and published with its proceedings. Open to faculty and graduate students at Canadian universities.
China Scholarship Council Doctoral Scholarships Likely in March 2025 The China Scholarship Council (CSC) provides scholarships to Chinese students for doctoral and postdoctoral studies abroad, across a wide range of disciplines.
CIHR Doctoral Research Awards Likely in September 2024 The CIHR Doctoral Research Awards provide special recognition and support to students who are pursuing a doctoral degree in a health-related field.
CIHR Fellowship Likely in October 2024 Fellowships provide support for highly qualified applicants in all areas of health research at the post-PhD degree or post-health professional degree stages to add to their experience by engaging in health research either in Canada or abroad.
DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) Scholarships and Research Grants Likely in November 2024 Scholarships and grants are available for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers in all disciplines for study and research at institutions in Germany.
Dan David Prize Scholarship Likely in March 2025 The Dan David Prize awards scholarships to doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, carrying out research in one of the selected fields for the current year.
DEGIRS Bursary Likely in May 2024 The Division of Engineers and Geoscientists in the Resource Sector (DEGIRS) offers a $2,000 bursary aimed at advancing engineering and geosciences education and practices in BC. Studies should relate directly to professional engineering and/or professional geoscience in the resource sector.
Department Awards Likely in December 2024 Various awards are offered to students on the recommendation of a graduate program, Department, or Faculty.

Douglas McRorie Memorial Scholarship Likely in March 2025 The Douglas McRorie Memorial Scholarships are awarded to agricultural post-graduates majoring in agricultural business, economics, finance or trade. Candidates must hold Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residence status in Canada and be enrolled in their graduate program until at least one semester beyond the application deadline.
Dr. Jim McDonald Scholarship for Northern Research Likely in January 2025 The Association of Canadian Universities for Northern Research (ACUNS), with the support of the family of the late Dr. Jim McDonald, is sponsoring one scholarship valued at $5,000 for Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada currently enrolled in graduate studies in the social sciences and humanities as these pertain to Canada’s north and its inhabitants. Community-based-research, interdisciplinary research and local Indigenous collaboration will be given special consideration, as will those that can demonstrate a specific focus to their project.
EduCanada Study in Canada Scholarships Likely in March 2025 Study in Canada Scholarships provide students from post-secondary institutions located in the new eligible countries/territories with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research in Canadian post-secondary institutions at the college, undergraduate and graduate levels.
Edwin S.H. Leong CSC UBC PhD Scholarship Likely in October 2024 Renewable doctoral scholarships of $35,000 per year for up to four years are offered annually by the Tai Hung Fai Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC). To be considered, candidates must be citizens of the mainland of the People's Republic of China who demonstrate academic excellence and who are undertaking PhD research at the UBC Vancouver campus, in one of the following areas: health, natural sciences, natural resources, economics or business.

Leong CSC UBC Postdoctoral Fellowship Likely in October 2024 Renewable postdoctoral fellowships of $50,000 per year for up to three years are offered annually by the Tai Hung Fai Charitable Foundation, in partnership with the China Scholarship Council (CSC). To be considered, candidates must be citizens of the mainland of the People's Republic of China who demonstrate academic excellence and who are undertaking postdoctoral research at the UBC Vancouver campus in one of the following areas: health, natural sciences, natural resources, economics or business.
Elizabeth Henry Scholarship for Communities and Environmental Health Likely in May 2024 The Elizabeth Henry Scholarship for Communities and Environmental Health supports graduate students working on research projects in partnership with BC communities that are addressing environmental health issues and promoting environmental sustainability through cooperative community initiatives.
Flaherty Research Scholarship Likely in May 2024 The Flaherty Research Scholarship supports emerging research scholars, whose work has the potential to link Canada and Ireland.
Foreign Government Awards Program - Korea Likely in March 2025 The Government of Korea through the National Institute for International Education Development offers scholarships to Canadians for study/research at the graduate level.
Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF) Likely in December 2024 The Four Year Doctoral Fellowship (4YF) program provides funding for UBC's best PhD, DMA, and MDPhD students of up to $18,200 per year plus tuition.
Friedman Award for Scholars in Health Likely in March 2025 The Friedman Award for Scholars in Health supports learning and research opportunities for graduate students or medical residents working in the broad area of health, to bring new perspectives to their education and further their career.
Future Forests Fellowship Likely in November 2024 An annual $70,000 fellowship has been established by the Moss Rock Park Foundation. This prestigious fellowship will be awarded to an incoming PhD student in the Faculty of Forestry whose intended studies fit within one of the following areas of excellence within the Faculty: Forest Products Biotechnology; Bioenergy; Forest Genomics; Climate Change; Urban Forestry; Forest Management; Conservation; Forested Landscapes; Salmon Ecology; Forest Health; Forests and Indigenous Peoples; Forests and Human Health. The fellowship holder will receive this funding for up to four years and only one student may be in receipt of the fellowship at a time. The fellowship will be awarded on the recommendation of the Faculty of Forestry in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies.
Global Scholarship Programme for Research Excellence Likely in April 2025 The programme provides accommodation support to UBC PhD students to undertake short-term research visits at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
Globalink Graduate Fellowship Likely in January 2025 The Globalink Graduate Fellowship provides financial support to former Globalink Research Interns to return to Canada for graduate studies at select Mitacs university partners, including UBC.
Google Lime Scholarship Likely in December 2024 The Google Lime Scholarship provides funding and networking retreats for computer science students with disabilities.
Governor General's Gold Medal Likely in March 2025 Gold medals are awarded to the graduating students with the most outstanding academic records in a doctoral degree and in a Master's degree with thesis.
