The Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies invites applications for the position of Associate Dean, Academic. This is a three-year, renewable, term position with a 30% time commitment.
The Associate Dean will be responsible for providing academic leadership in:
- Academic decision-making and support, and handling requests for exceptions to policy in areas including but not limited to graduate admissions, student progress, doctoral examination processes, supervisory committee membership, and thesis-related issues.
- Chairing the Graduate Academic Policy Committee and overseeing the development and alteration of the Faculty’s policies.
- Responsibility within the dean’s office of the Interdisciplinary Studies Graduate Program (ISGP), ensuring effective governance and support of students in the program.
- Additional responsibilities as required.
Candidates should be tenured UBC faculty members with accomplished experience and interest in graduate education, preferably, as a graduate program director. An administrative stipend and funding for either teaching release or research support will be provided.
