At Mérida Labs, we are looking for a motivated and solution-oriented postdoctoral fellow. Our group focuses on integrated energy systems research that encompasses breakthrough technologies, policy, energy conversion, new business models, techno-economic and life cycle analyses, machine learning, optimization, AI, intelligent networks, among others.
The role will focus on a project in partnership with InDro Robotics, Rogers, Canada Post and Honeywell. The first objective is to develop a last mile parcel delivery modelling that optimizes the control, routing, and operation for zero-emission ground and aerial vehicles. As the team leader, you will have the opportunity to develop this line of research, where you will also support and mentor student teams, and identify ways to expand the relationship with our partners and the research goals.
In addition to communication, project management, and technical writing skills, a suitable candidate should have solid technical experience in some of the following areas of study (in order of importance):
- Transportation systems modeling
- Linear, MILP, and/or convex optimization
- Transportation systems
- Energy efficiency and modeling
- Feasibility analysis
- Programming (multiple languages)
In addition, we are in the final stages of deploying a $24M renewable energy hub, a city-scale testbed that will allow us to develop new technologies and economic models for individuals, cities, and utilities in the realm of sustainable transportation and energy management systems. We expect that the PDF will be closely involved, and thus bring relevant expertise, in developing a Digital Twin model of the testbed to expand the reach of our research activities through the testbed.
The fellowship will be for a one-year appointment, renewable subject to performance. The position is available from now until it is filled. Review of applications will begin immediately.
