A one year postdoctoral position is available at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada with a visit to Montreal, QC, Canada.
The primary goal of the project is to develop and implement regularized classification methods for high dimensional metabolic data containing noisy measurements and missing values. Metabolic data have been collected on pediatric patients who have undergone renal transplantation. Our goal is to identify a metabolomic signature using pre-transplant serum samples to support a precision-medicine approach to immunosuppressive treatment.
The position will play a key role in a recently awarded Collaborative Research Team (CRT) project (Improving Robust High-Dimensional Causal Inference and Prediction Modelling) supported by the Canadian Statistical Science Institute (CANSSI). The PDF will also participate regularly in team meetings of the CRT, involving faculty and trainees in BC, Ontario and Quebec, and be involved in mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The postdoctoral fellow (PDF) will be co-supervised by Dr. Cohen Freue (UBC) and Dr. Blydt-Hansen (BC Children Hospital), and the position includes funds for a visit to Montreal for 3 months. Qualifications: We are seeking for candidates with a PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or equivalent, and experience developing or applying regularized models to high dimensional data. Ideally, the candidate has also experience in survival models. Candidates with good computational skills—such as working with Compute Canada or other high-performance computational clusters—will receive higher consideration. Candidates must be highly motivated, creative and independent, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work well as part of a team.
