MA Student in French Studies

The Department of French, Hispanic and Italian Studies is still accepting applications for the MA program in French Studies.

Our graduate program in French Studies delves into the languages, literatures, and cultures of Québec, France, and the Francophone world in an environment that celebrates intellectual curiosity and freedom of inquiry. The department’s hands-on approach to mentorship and vibrant community are frequently cited as contributing factors to the success of our graduate students.

Financial packages start at $25,449.92 across 2 years. We offer Teaching Assistantships, potential Research Assistantships, as well as a wide array of additional opportunities for financial aid from departmental, university, and external sources.

Moreover, the department is proud to support research development through its biennial Graduate Student Conference and annual Graduate Student Symposium that allow graduate students to share research with the academic community, network with their peers, and plan large-scale academic events. In addition, the Colloque en études francophones de la côte pacifique (CEFCP) brings together every year the graduate students from UBC and two other local institutions: Simon Fraser University and the University of Victoria.
