Grad Wellness Series: Career Uncertainty

This is the second session in the Graduate Wellness series. The sessions are designed to offer additional mental health and wellbeing support geared specifically towards graduate students and centered around known stressors many graduate students are faced with. The series is a partnership between the Office of the Vice-President Students, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and graduate student representatives. The goals of these facilitated support sessions will be to identify and address key mental health concerns, foster resiliency, develop proactive coping strategies, identify resources, and create social connections through discussions.
We will be offering 90 minute sessions throughout 2021/2022, each focused on a different theme known to be an area of heightened stress for graduate students. These sessions are best suited for graduate students who feel overwhelmed in the following areas and are wanting support to make a change.
Danielle Barkley, PhD, is a Career Educator who works with the Centre for Student Involvement and Careers to support graduate students at UBC. She completed her PhD in English literature at McGill University and has previous experience as a university instructor and writing consultant.
Karen Flood, PhD (she/her), is a Registered Psychologist with UBC Counselling Services. In her role, she provides brief individual counselling, facilitates therapeutic and support groups and this Wellness Series, and encourages all to access Therapist Assistance Online (TAO). She is an alumni of UBC’s Faculty of Education, Dept. of Educational and Counselling Psychology and Special Education.

Work/life balance and stress management
Navigating a successful relationship with your supervisor
Registration opens on Monday, November 29th at 9:00 AM PST.
Priority will be given to UBC graduate students registered in the current academic session. After registering, you will receive confirmation and additional event details within 2-3 business days. If you experience any difficulty using the online registration tool, please e-mail email@example.com.
