Navigating an Effective Relationship with your Supervisor
Date & Time
An event within the Graduate Wellness Discussion Series.
This interactive workshop will be facilitated by staff members of UBC Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies and Counselling Services to assist graduate students in building strong working relationships with their supervisor and committee members to support their progress through their graduate programs.
Learn to sidestep or manage potential conflict through the establishment of expectations, problem resolution skills, and holding confident conversations. Become more aware of one’s own thoughts about, and behaviours in, a potentially unhealthy relationship, to be able to take action towards changing the dynamics leading to a healthier relationship.
You will be invited to share in chat, vocal, and breakout room discussions.
More on the series:
This series, designed to offer additional mental health and wellbeing support geared specifically towards graduate students and centered around known stressors many graduate students are faced with, is a partnership between UBC Counselling Services, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, the Health and Promotion Education Unit, the Centre for Student Involvement and Careers, Enrollment Services, and graduate student representatives. The goals of this series are to identify and address key mental health concerns, foster agency and resiliency, develop proactive coping strategies, identify resources, and create social connections through discussion. These sessions are best suited for graduate students who feel challenged in the topic area under discussion and are wanting support to make a change.
Registration opens on Monday, June 7th, at 9:00 AM.
Priority will be given to UBC graduate students registered in the current academic session. After registering, you will receive confirmation and additional event details within 2 business days. If you experience any difficulty using the online registration tool, please e-mail email@example.com.
DON'T BE A NO-SHOW: Please help us run a full session by emailing us 24 hours prior, if you are no longer able to attend. This will help us offer your spot to a student on the waiting list. If available, we can provide you with resources related to the session topic when you cancel.
