Developed by a team of masterful project managers and adult instructors, Project Management 2020 delivers a balance of “core” project management knowledge and skills. These are blended with practical learning on key interpersonal skills essential to successfully achieving project goals.

PM 2020 is aligned with the most recent proposed Project Management Institute (PMI) body of knowledge (PMBOK), the most recognized approach to project management. As well, the program delves into the challenges every project manager faces such as managing stakeholders, defining the value of a project, dealing with conflict, and managing quality.

Participants must commit to attending both days in entirety (June 7th and June 8th).

Over an intense, two-day course you experience a practical opportunity to bring your project into a workshop and learn how to increase your success, using professional templates while collaborating in a supportive environment.

  • Communicate throughout the project with sponsor and stakeholders

Facilitator

Russel Horwitz, MEng, has worked extensively as a leadership consultant / trainer since 2004 across a wide variety of sectors, including government, publically-held, private and non-profit.  Russel spent 14 years in the high technology/engineering sector, where he held management roles in product development, marketing, customer service and training.  His expertise includes leadership and team development as well as executive coaching.  As a facilitator, Russel draws on his experiences to connect to his audience by relating topics to personal, relevant stories. Russel has been working with the Mitacs Training program since 2008

Registration Information

Registration opens on Monday, May 31st at 9:00am.

Graduate students from all BC post-secondary institutions are eligible to participate. Priority will be given to UBC graduate students registered in the current academic session. Students who have been chosen, by lottery, to participate will receive a seat offer email.  If you experience any difficulty using the online registration tool, please e-mail graduate.pathways@ubc.ca.

NO-SHOW PENALTY: If you register and do not attend or cancel less than 24 hours prior, it may affect your eligibility to join future events. To avoid this no-show penalty, please cancel at least two business days in advance by e-mailing graduate.pathways@ubc.ca.
