Scholarly Smarts in Today's Publishing Landscape
Date & Time
With the arrival of the internet came the promise of a faster, cheaper, and more democratic method of disseminating scholarly research. Almost 20 years later, the scholarly publishing ecosystem is largely dominated by the same small group of publishers and many are still struggling to make their work available to a general audience. Join Stephanie Savage to discuss the current realities of academic publishing, what the future might hold, and how you, as scholars and authors, fit into a system of diverse stakeholders and competing interests.
Stephanie Savage is a Scholarly Communications and Copyright Services Librarian at UBC Library. In her current role, she provides copyright expertise to the UBC community and helps develop open initiatives on campus and support researchers in disseminating their research as widely as possible.
Registration opens on Monday, May 6 at 9:00am.
