Join writing specialists from the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication for a webinar in which we will discuss:

  • developing good writing and reading habits
  • managing time on your writing projects
  • finding and using resources at UBC and online that will support your writing
  • strategies for keeping motivated, including working in peer writing groups

Come prepared with questions, as we will include time for Q&A at the end.


Janey Dodd is the Writing Support Resources Coordinator for the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication (CWSC), where she is working on expanding self-directed writing resources for upper level undergraduate and graduate students.  She holds a BA, hons. and MA in English from Simon Fraser University and is currently a PhD candidate in the Department of English at UBC. Her work focusses on the intersections between poetry, site-specific performance and spatial practice in post-war North American art communities. 

Rebecca Shaw is the Program Manager at the Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication (CWSC).  She oversees the operation of the CWSC including the design, development and delivery of peer-based writing support services and other educational programming relating to writing and literacy for undergraduate and graduate students.  Rebecca holds a MEd in Educational Studies from the University of British Columbia, where she focused on adult learning and peer support workers.

Priority will be given to UBC graduate students registered in the current academic session. Confirmation of registration will be sent within two working days.
