Are you contemplating entering 3MT 2017 @UBC?  Are in the planning process?  Do you need to get your presentation butterflies flying in formation?  This is an opportunity to learn how to prepare for the competition and create a winning entry!

This interactive coaching session will provide presentation tips and techniques, demos and small group practice.  If you are attending the in person session, please be prepared to present your research in small group setting.

What is 3MT?

Graduate students participate in 3MT with the aim of presenting their research to a non-specialized audience in just three minutes.  Participants can use only one slide, and are not allowed to use props or aids.  The judges look for clear language, a well-structured presentation that engages the audience, and a slide that is designed to support the speaker's points.

3MT was hosted at UBC for the first time in 2011. We are one of the first North American Universities to follow in the footsteps of The University of Queensland, where 3MT originated.

For more information about 3MT, visit our website:  There are 3MT heats during February and March, leading to semi-finals and a final in March where prizes will be awarded.

Jacqui Brinkman. In her role as Manager of the Graduate Pathways to Success (GPS) program, Jacqui Brinkman led 3MT 2012 to 2016 @UBC.  She will facilitate an interactive coaching session to help graduate students understand the elements of a winning presentation.
