Transfer to New Program

In exceptional cases, a student may transfer from one Graduate Program to another, or from one degree program to another, with the approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

A recommendation to transfer should come from the receiving Graduate Program, and be supported by a review of the student’s academic qualifications. Evidence of consultation with the student’s current Graduate Program must be included. The recommendation should include the effective date of transfer which must correspond with the beginning of a session, or the beginning of Term 2, Winter Session. The effective date of transfer must not be earlier than the beginning of the term in which the transfer is recommended.

For information on transfer of credits from one program to another, see Policies & Procedures/Course Registration/Transfer Credit.

Transfers between master's programs involving a change of discipline should be treated as new admissions.
