Doctoral Deadlines
To meet deadlines all forms and documentation must be received within usual business hours, typically before 4pm PDT.
There are four deadlines doctoral candidates must meet in order to be eligible for the following:
- December 31, 2011 Program End Date
- Spring 2012 Graduation
- April 30, 2012 Program End Date
- August 31, 2012 Program End Date
- Fall 2012 Graduation
- December 31, 2012 Program End Date
- Spring 2013 Graduation
- April 30, 2013 Program End Date
The Doctoral Examination deadlines are suggested in order to guide doctoral candidates through each step of the doctoral examination process in time to meet requirements for specific program end dates or for graduation ceremonies. Please note that if deadlines are not met, doctoral candidates may not be able to fulfill requirements for intended program completion dates or for graduation ceremonies.
Due to limited availability of external examiners, university examiners, and examination chairs, there are two blackout periods each year (the month of August and from mid-December to mid-January). Oral examinations are normally not held at these times. Candidates on extensions ending August 31 or December 31 must complete oral examinations before the applicable blackout period.
It is in the best interest of the candidate to meet the deadline for each step of the doctoral examination process.
The first eligible graduation ceremony is Spring 2011. Deadline provided assumes that the candidate wants his/her degree conferred at the earliest time.
