UBC Thesis Licence Agreement

The UBC Thesis Licence Agreement grants a licence to the UBC Library to make your thesis available for circulation.

If material in your thesis is copyrighted to a third party and its use is not covered under the "fair dealing" clause in the Canada Copyright Act, the third party must also agree to the terms of this licence.

Library and Archives Canada Theses Non-Exclusive Licence

The Library and Archives Canada Theses Non-Exclusive Licence is an agreement between you, the thesis author, and Library and Archives Canada that gives LAC permission to include your thesis in the Theses Canada program.

Grad Studies CAN NOT accept scans or faxes of the Library and Archives Canada Non-Exclusive Licence form. Your signature on this form must be original and in ink. Please submit this form to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.

On this form, the "Date Degree Awarded" is the month and year of your graduation ceremony.

The Cover Sheet provides us with additional information about your submission, and acts as a checklist for required documents.

Delaying Publication of a Thesis

Under certain circumstances, publication of a thesis may be delayed for a limited period of time, at the request of the student, supervisor, and Graduate Advisor or Head of Department.

The Request for Delay in Publication of Thesis form  must be signed by the following people:

  1. Student
  2. Student's Supervisor
  3. Graduate Advisor or Head of Department

Bibliography of Theses Related to BC

The University of British Columbia Library maintains the Bibliography of Theses on British Columbia History and Related Subjects. This important online reference source is available on the Internet through the UBC Library online catalogue. The Bibliography is used by students and researchers at UBC and by other libraries and research institutions in British Columbia, Canada and other countries.

If your thesis is relevant to British Columbia (e.g. history, geography, literature, science, special topics, etc.) you are asked to complete and submit the Bibliography of Theses Related to British Columbia form.
