Research topic:

Power outages and windthrow

Research group:
Windthrow
Research supervisor:
Steve Mitchell
Research location:
Department of Forestry - Forest Sciences
Research description:

I am looking at the relationship between power outages and trees blown down by weather events.

What impact do you hope your research will have?:

I hope my research can provide decision support for various levels of management within vegetation management of not only electric utilities but all the utilities that deal with vegetation on a daily basis.

Why did you decide to pursue a graduate degree?:

Improve knowledge where I think it's important in a researcher career.

Why did you choose to come to British Columbia and study at UBC?:

I actually choose Vancouver because it has all the advantages of a big city in a small city.
UBC Forest Sciences is a very well recognized and developed university program which creates opportunities for those who want to gain knowledge and produce knowledge in a traditional university environment.

Do you have any tips for students from your home country coming to Canada / to UBC Grad School?:

Don't hang around your own people; Vancouver and UBC are multicultural places. Very good place to meet people and learn about other cultures.
