Eligibility
Students who were registered in the first four years of a UBC PhD or DMA program as of 30 September 2007 are eligible for funding under the PhD Tuition Fee Award program.
Students who were registered in a UBC master’s program as of 30 September 2007 and subsequently register in a PhD or DMA program will be eligible for funding under the PhD Tuition Fee Award program under the following circumstances:
- Students must have applied for the doctoral program while still enrolled in the master’s program. (In rare cases, this may not be possible, but students must apply as soon the application becomes available).
- Students must begin their doctoral program in the term immediately following the term in which they completed their master’s program.
- If students are unable to begin their doctoral program in the term immediately following completion of their master’s program due to graduate program constraints (i.e., the program does not accept new doctoral students at the beginning of a particular term), students must begin their doctoral program at the next possible intake.
Students who have their tuition fees directly billed to a third-party are not eligible for PhD Tuition Fee Award funding.
Eligible students will receive PhD Tuition Fee Award funding during the first four years of doctoral study or until 31 August 2012 – whichever comes first.
Procedures
Students are automatically considered for this award and do not need to apply for it.
