Affiliated Fellowships
2010-2011 Competition (deadline Fall 2009)
Please note: Funding that was offered in the past through the annual University Graduate Fellowship (UGF) competition has been re-directed to the new Four Year Doctoral Fellowships program. Students may still apply for Affiliated Fellowships through the fall competition (see below).
The Faculty of Graduate Studies offers approximately 220 Affiliated Fellowships each year to meritorious students for full-time study and/or research leading to a graduate degree. Awards are made on the basis of academic excellence, and are open to currently registered, full-time UBC graduate students regardless of citizenship or visa status.
Fellowship values range from $300 to $27,500, but most are in the range of $16,000-$17,000.
Fellowships are offered through an annual competition; the competition for Affiliated Fellowships is combined with the competition for NSERC, SSHRC, and CIHR Master’s scholarships held early in the fall term. Students must submit their applications to their graduate program. Graduate programs recommend only their highest-ranked candidates to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, as competition for Affiliated Fellowships is strong each year and there are always many more nominations than available awards. Students should contact their graduate program for more information about departmental review processes and deadlines.
