Canadian Society of Medievalists Leonard E. Boyle Prize

The Leonard E. Boyle Dissertation Prize for Medieval Studies is awarded to a deserving doctoral thesis in any field of medieval studies completed at a Canadian university or by a Canadian citizen studying abroad. The dissertation must be submitted within one year of its successful defence. Entries are adjudicated by the Dissertation Prize Committee, a subcommittee of the Canadian Society of Medievalists. The prize consists of a cash award as well as a membership in the Society for three years, and is presented at the annual meeting of the Society.

Procedures

Application Procedures: 

The dissertation must be submitted to the Chair of the Committee within one year of its successful defence, and entries are adjudicated by the Dissertation Prize Committee, a subcommittee of the Canadian Society of Medievalists.Complete application consists of:

  • one paper copy of the thesis
  • one electronic copy of the thesis
  • a letter or report from the supervisor
  • the external examiner report
