Procedures

Application Procedures:

A mandatory UBC internal review service for Banting Fellowship applications will identify the strongest applications and select a maximum of ten per Tri-Council area (CIHR, NSERC & SSHRC) to receive the necessary institutional endorsement. For this review process, we will allow the application package to be in draft form, (i.e. bullet points are okay), as long as it adequately addresses the Banting program objectives and selection criteria. Internal review documents are to be submitted to SPARC at sparc.ir@ubc.ca by October 5, 2011, 4:00 PM PDT. Applicants who are selected for institutional support will be provided feedback in order to develop a powerful and compelling full application.

The tables below list which sections of the Banting full application are required for the UBC internal review and a timeline of the process. Details for the application sections can be found on the Banting website under Guide to Applying. An important element of a successful application is the synergy between the applicant’s scholarly and leadership qualities with the proposed research environment. Highlighting this synergy requires the proposed supervisor to identify how their expertise and available resources match the development goals of the applicant.

Please submit all documents in MS Word .doc format only.
