Adaptation H2O - IDRC Graduate Research Award on Climate Change and Water

Provided through the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the Adaptation H2O award is meant to build the research capacity in developing countries by providing awards to graduate students working on subjects related to climate change and water. Proposed field work must take place in a developing country with aims to help developing country researchers to understand the consequences of climate change on water resources and to find ways to improve the ability of citizens and governments to adapt to the changing environment.

Eligibility
Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada must be enrolled in a doctoral program; developing country nationals can be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program.
Evaluation Criteria
Proposals must address one or more of the following themes:
- Economic analysis related to climate change adaptation
- Gender analysis of adaptation strategies
- Use of information and communication technologies and spatial decision-support systems for adaptation
- The role of clean energy in water provision
- Adapting to climate change in vulnerable coastal communities
Procedures
Applications must be submitted directly to IDRC and will be accepted in English or French only. Applications must include all the required documents listed in the Application checklist as specified in IDRC's Adaptation H2O page.
Further Information
In principle, IDRC supports research in all developing regions of the world. However, at this time, the Adaptation H2O Graduate Research Awards Program is not supporting awards that involve research in Cuba, Burma, Iraq, Iran, Eastern Europe, or Central Asia.
