Visiting Students - Procedures for Admission
FoGS policies on Visiting Graduate Students
The application procedure for visiting students is similar to the standard procedure. The admission requirements are the same.
Eligibility
- The student must be currently registered in a graduate program with good standing at another recognized university.
Procedure
- Students from other universities who wish to apply to be visiting students (and who are not applying under the Western Deans' Agreement or the Graduate Exchange Agreement) apply as usual, and include the following with the application:
- Letter of permission from the home university’s Registrar or department head confirming that the coursework and/or research to be undertaken at UBC while a visiting student is for the purpose of completing the graduate degree requirements at the home university
- Program submits a Recommendation for Admission to FoGS.
- The application will be reviewed by FoGS and, if approved, an official Letter of Admission will be issued to the student, with a copy to the program.
Note:
- Visiting graduate students who wish to take credit courses must register for those courses and will be assessed tuition fees at the prevailing graduate per credit rate, plus authorized student fees. See the web site above for details.
- Students may hold visiting status at UBC for a maximum of twelve months.
