Whether you pursue a career in academia or not, this may a good time to re-evaluate and update your career plan. Developing your career path is a process, and it begins with YOU. This workshop, part of a 2-part series on Career Building, offers practical career exploration tools and inspirational perspectives to help you position yourself for professional life after your Postdoctoral Fellowship.

Workshop Two: From Resume to Interview to Job

Once you’ve clarified some key values, interests and skills that provide some direction for the next career move, it’s time for action. This workshop provides practical strategies and perspectives to help you research and prepare for job searching. During this workshop participants will be able to:

  • Develop practical resume-writing strategies as they differ from CV’s
  • Apply principles of an informational interview to practice
  • Consider ways to network effectively and research the labour market
  • Define a job interview and develop strategies to prepare for a job interview

Facilitator: Gregg Taylor, CHRP, CCDP, President, BC Career Development Association. Gregg Taylor has over 18 years’ experience as a consultant and career & employment specialist. His background bridges the career counselling and HR worlds with expertise in business consulting, career counselling, coaching, and workshop training. His former company, Transitions Career & Business Consultants Inc., coordinates the highly acclaimed Transitions Program, a 3 week career exploration and planning program for adults in career transition.
